WIP Wednesday

I was fairly productive this week... yay!

~I got some hexies basted for my Grandmother's Flower Garden project.

~If you look at yesterday's post you can see that I machine quilted something for the very first time!  This was my first attempt at a mug rug.  The quilting went really well...the binding on the other hand... oopsy!  I still haven't un-sewn it yet, but I'll get to it.

~On my Fandango Log Cabin project, I was productive, but then got discouraged again.  I have 15 log cabin blocks completed, and I felt like I needed more blocks, but I didn't have any more Jelly roll strips.  So I decided to at some more simple blocks to tone down the busy-ness of the log cabin blocks.  This is what I came up with:

Excuse the random straight pin on the block... my cat batted it onto the block right as I snapped the picture!  Here's where I really need your advice! Do you like the simple block next to the log cabin??  Is the white too white?  The white in the fandango fabric is more of an off white, but I've seen fandango paired with white successfully before.  I just don't know!!

~The Moose on the Porch layer cake quilt along (see button on the right) I finished block #4 this morning at around 4am.  I really like how this one turned out.  I'm so enjoying this quilt along.  The blocks are so much fun and I'm so in love with this Happy fabric!

So, that was my week :)  I hope everyone had a wonderful past week! Happy WiP Wednesday everyone!

I love the white. I think it breaks it up. But I'm a "modern" quilter and I love solids mixed in with my prints! I used white with Fandango here: http://myfabricobsession.blogspot.com/2010/11/its-not-deja-vu.html
I was hesitant too for the same reasons you are, but it worked okay (I like to think!).
That happy fabric is really cool paired with the black and whites too. Very striking!

I like the white, I really do, and I know what you mean about the sort-of-off-white in Fandango. I think it looks great like that. And I definitely dig your star - I love black and white fabrics, and that pop of color in the middle looks great. Happy WiP Wednesday! :)

I really like the white! I say go with it. Can't wait to see it all together!

I was browsing Happy fabric and I love it too! Your block looks amazing and the black and white really sets it off.

I think your first mug rug turned out really great, way better than mine. I had a color conundrum on mine which a seam ripper can't fix. :)

Love your brights+b&w block for the quilt along! And yes, the white + Fandango looks just lovely - I think it really brightens it up.

Happy WiP Wednesday!

I love white mixed with solids. It is my go-to fabric choice when things are looking a little busy to me! Great job on all your projects!

I think the 'simple' block looks great with your log cabin and I love the white with it.

I love the white! I love a lot of white in a quilt, it just seems so fresh and clean. And it is a modern look, which I like. So go for it! : )

I'm not an expert machine binder by any means, but I don't think you have to redo the ENTIRE binding because you accidentally sewed down that one flap. I would just remove enough stitches to un-sew the flap. Then be sure to overstitch and backstitch a few times where the original stitches end and you start the new stitches. I hope that makes sense!

Thanks for linking up with WIP Wednesday! See you next time!
